DVD Operation
- Playing a disc -
Removing discs:
Notes:
z Some DVD discs may not function as described in the manual. See the disc jacket
for restrictions.
z During an operation, " " may appear indicating that the operation is disabled by
the disc.
z Some DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD-R/CD-RW may not play properly due to the status of
the disc or equipment used for recording. Change the recording speed or disc. For
more details, see the manual for the equipment.
z When you turn on the power or switch the input to "DVD", initialization starts and
operation is not possible for a few seconds.
z Sound may skip at high volume depending on the disc. In this case, turn down the
volume.
z Do not insert more than one disc. Discs may be damaged.
z A disc with scratches or fingerprints may not play properly. Refer to "Care of DVD/
SACD/CD discs (page 3)" and clean the disc.
z Do not play the discs of special shapes (heart or octagon shaped) as they can be
ejected while rotating and cause injury.

the button. Playback resumes
from the point where it was
stopped.

To pause
playback

In the pause mode, press the
button. Playback resumes from the
point where it was paused.
1 Stop playback and press the OPEN/CLOSE
button.
2 Press the eject button to remove the disc.
3 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the
sliding door.
If you turn off the power with the sliding door
open, the door closes.
Caution:
Do not touch the sliding door while it is moving, and be careful not to pinch your fin-
gers.
Eject button
An error message appears on TV or the unit when you try to play the following discs
(see page 58):
z Scratched discs
z Unplayable discs
z The region number is neither 1 nor ALL.
z Discs supporting parental control (*)
(*) Some DVDs support parental control which restricts viewing according to the
age (see page 41).
