Sunnyside,
the
Southwest
Arm
of
Random,
Random
Island,
and
other
Communities
in

riding
without
electricity
demand
that
the
Newfoundland
Gover_nment
take

advantage
of
the
assistance
that
can
be
forthcoming
from
the
Conservative
Government
in
Ottawa.
ALL
THAT
IS
REQUIRED
IS
THE
PREPARATION
AND
SUBMISSION

OF
A
SUITABLE
PLAN
WHICH
IS
ACCEPTABLE
TO
THE
FEDERAl
GOVERNMENT.
Nova
Scotia
and
New
Brunswick
have
done
so.

NOT
NEWFOUNDLAND
?

statement
made
by
Prime
Minister
Diefenbaker
during
his
recent
visit
to
Newfoundland.
Quote:
"In
a
letter
of
January
8,
to
the
Premier
of
Newfoundland,
Alvin
Hamilton
the
Minister
of
Northern
Affairs
and
National
Resources,
said
that
the
kind
of
assistance
that
would
be
made
available
in
financing
the
Beechwood
Hydro
Plant
could
be
made
available
in
other
instances,
including
Newfoundland,
H
an
equal
need
of
financial
assistance
could
be
shown.
In·
other
words,
the
plan
is
available
to
any
Province
that
can
make
out
an
equal
case
for
financial
assistance."
