Microwave Ovens are a conventional appliance, which is NOT equipped with temperature nor
pressure control devices, venting or any other improved safety feature beyond the ones typically
present in a domestic microwave oven. The operating instructions and safety precautions
supplied by the manufacturer must be thoroughly reviewed before operating the oven. In
addition, the following rules apply to its laboratory use and applications.
1. NEVER USE THIS MICROWAVE OVEN TO HEAT FOOD; EACH MICROWAVE MUST BE CLEARLY
LABELED.
2. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged or does not operate properly. The oven door must
close properly and there must be no damage to the door seals, sealing surfaces, hinges and
latches.
3. Do not heat up or produce combustible or flammable materials in the oven. Fire and/or
explosion might result. Do not heat up low-boiling point solvents or reactants in the oven.
4. Do not heat up sealed containers inside the oven as they may explode damaging the oven and
blowing off the door.
5. No chemical with a penetrating odor, or considered a health hazard, or having a TLV = 50
ppm, can be used or potentially be produced inside this oven.
6. Do not use Aluminum Foil or any metal containers, utensils or objects with a metallic trim,
inside the oven.
7. Do not heat materials in cylindrical-shaped containers since it may lead to liquid overheating.
Liquids if overheated may splatter during or after the heating cycle causing employee injury or
damage to the oven.
8. If materials inside the oven ignite, KEEP OVEN DOOR CLOSED, turn oven OFF and disconnect
power cord.
9. When removing containers from inside the oven, use proper gloves as well as eye/face
protection.
10. Do not leave oven unattended while in use. Never make adjustments or tamper with any
component of the oven. Do not try to perform any repairs. Seek qualified help or service.
